Invisalign
Invisalign is an enormously popular way of straightening teeth and treating problems like overbites, underbites, gaps and more. The process works through the use of a series of trays or aligners, shifting teeth anywhere from .1mm to .25mm prior to being switched out for a new set. In contrast to traditional braces, Invisalign aligners are comfortable, conveniently removable, and virtually undetectable.
Since Invisalign aligners are made from clear plastic, they are quite popular with teenagers who are concerned about their appearance, beginning dating, etc.
Benefits of Invisalign:
Virtually invisible aligners
Removable at any time
No food restrictions
Enhanced comfort compared to braces
Invisalign Consultation
Every Invisalign treatment begins with a consultation to determine if you make a good candidate for this treatment and to respond to any questions or concerns that you may have about the treatment process.
During your consultation, we will be checking your bite and making impressions to create 3D images of your teeth and mouth. Our computer software allows us to show you how your teeth should look after completing Invisalign treatment.
Developing a Treatment Plan
After we have gathered all required information, we will go over your treatment options so that you understand every step of the Invisalign treatment process. Each patient is somewhat different, with a different timeline and unique situation.
Getting Started With Invisalign
You’ll come in to pick up your aligners when they are ready. You will be provided with information on how to care for your aligners. Each set of aligners should be worn for about two weeks before you are ready for a new set.
You will be required to wear your aligners for 22 hours a day, but you can remove them whenever you need to eat or clean your teeth. Just make sure that you replace them as soon as possible to stick to your treatment timeline.
One of the key advantages of Invisalign is its virtual invisibility. So limit your consumption of staining beverages like coffee and tea so that your plastic aligners remain clear.
Periodic Checkups
You’ll need to visit us about once every month so that we can monitor the progress of your Invisalign treatment and make any adjustments as necessary. This is also a good time to ask any questions that you may have.
Retainers
The final step of Invisalign treatment is the placement of retainers. They are a bit like aligners in that they are normally clear and removable. The purpose of retainers is to prevent your teeth from once again getting out of alignment. You’ll probably need to wear them full-time for the first two months. After that, you may need to only wear them nightly before shifting to just every few nights.
